Why did Radiodetection create the RD8200SG locator?
We have been seeing a significant increase in the demand for mapping for some time. Mapping and accurate GNSS is only going to become more important in the future, so this is a natural development of the product line.
We actively listen to our customers, which has resulted in us launching this product with some significant differentiators compared to our competitors. We believe there will be a strong demand for this product, and we are very excited to be able to serve this market.
What is the RD8200SG (Survey Grade)?
The RD8200SG (Survey Grade) is Radiodetection's latest precision locator that allows customers to locate and accurately map buried utilities. More information can be found on the webpage.
Does the RD8200SG work with both iOS and Android?
Yes, The RD8200SG is compatible with both Android and iOS mobile apps.
We recommend using a mobile app as it enables you to view and build your map while you are in the field. However, if you have a means of running the NTRIP, a mobile app is not strictly necessary. You can use the LED to establish RTK float/fix, but please bear in mind that you will not be able to visualize the map while you are in the field. Data can be transferred to a PC or laptop using RD Manager Online for Windows after the survey is completed.
What is a correction service provider?
The RD8200SG had been designed to provide survey grade GNSS accuracy. In order to provide such accuracy, the common errors in current satellite navigation systems will need to be corrected.
To correct such errors, there are many 'correction service' providers available on the market and the availability will differ depending upon your requirements and the geographical area that you are operating in - Whilst some may be free of charge, others may be chargeable.
